Bi-Cultural Aboriginal Drumming Program
Gibbons School has teamed up with Camilla School and the Alexander Band to form a drumming group. On Friday, February 12, 2010 the Alexander Band gave a Drumming Demonstration at Gibbons School. Ten students were selected to participate in a bi-cultural group with Camilla and Alexander to immerse themselves in Aboriginal culture and traditions, learning the symbolism behind the drum. The students will be participating in an all day drum building activity in St. Albert on Friday, February 19th. This activity will culminate with a drum performance near the end of the year. We are very excited about this project and look forward to a year end Drum Performance at Gibbons School.
